Accadueo 2014: preparing for the new edition of the expo leader in the water sector

The many innovations in a constantly evolving industry!

With the aim of becoming an even more important national and international event, starting in 2014, Accadueo, which will be held, as usual, every two years, will change venue and dates moving to the Bologna Fair District in agreement with Ferrara Fiere, the expo area that has hosted the event up to the last edition in 2012. Two other expos will coincide with Accadueo: Smart City Exhibition, dedicated to the city and SAIE addressing the world of construction, which will contribute to catering to a broader and more diversified audience of technicians and public administrators.

The Water Sector | Outlooks | Investments | Providers
In addition to analysing the evolution of the technologies for managing water resources – with a vast offering of exhibits and conferences - ACCADUEO represents an extremely important opportunity to reflect upon strategic themes: from the reform of water services to the Authority, and from environmental sustainability to the investments earmarked in Italy, estimated at €65 billion, with an effect on employment that can be quantified in 47 thousand units per year.
The challenge for the upcoming years is linked to the backwardness of the infrastructures, which though differently in the various areas, distinguishes the entire country, with considerable consequences in terms of quality and quantity of the services delivered. The data concerning the percentage of water delivered over the total of the water introduced in the system show a non-homogeneous situation throughout the country with a high national average of loss (the percentage of delivered resource equals 67.6% therefore with losses exceeding 32%).
From the management viewpoint, the sector is still characterised by great fragmentation. A recent study by “Intesa San Paolo – SRM” estimates the presence of approximately 3,000 operators, two-thirds of which turn to direct management. There are 115 contracting companies, of which 61 are entirely public providers. From the viewpoint of territorial distribution, 75 companies are located in northern Italy, with greater presence in Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and Lombardy; the remaining ones are in the South and Centre.

Most of the so-called optimal territorial ambits (OTAs) have chosen direct contracting to a public held company (in the north, 42 of the 75 providers are public persons).

Accadueo | Company new products and innovations
In its last editions, Accadueo has tried to favour the best awareness of new ideas and innovations produced by businesses. This is why, in 2014, the now traditional Guide to New Products will continue to be accompanied by the “Innovation Showcase” dedicated to a selection presented by the manufacturers of components and equipment made by a technical and scientific committee of experts coming from water services management companies.
