A Dry Washing Shredding Plant for Plastic Waste Valorisation in the United Arab Emirates
As industries move towards more sustainable models, plastic waste treatment and valorisation have become key enablers of a truly circular economy. Within this context, CAMEC has developed an advanced plastic shredding and dry washing plant in the United Arab Emirates, designed and supplied for B&A, a joint venture between Beeah Group and Greenthesis.
The project represents a concrete example of circular economy applied at national level, with the entire plastic waste recovery process designed and closed locally within the UAE. This local-loop approach reduces dependence on external supply chains while creating industrial value and technological know-how within the country.
The plant was engineered through close collaboration between CAMEC and GCB Polymers, the project’s technical partner, which contributed to the development of process engineering and technological configuration. CAMEC was responsible for the industrial execution and delivery of the complete turnkey solution.
Designed to process rigid plastic waste, including mixed or contaminated fractions, the plant integrates advanced technologies for shredding, dry cleaning, separation and granulation. High levels of automation and continuous process monitoring ensure reliable operation, consistent output quality and optimized energy consumption.
The treatment process transforms rigid plastic waste into clean, ready-to-use recycled granules. After primary and secondary shredding, the material undergoes magnetic separation and metal detection, followed by air separation and dry cleaning to remove residual impurities. The final granulation stage produces uniform recycled granules, which are depowdered and stored in silos for direct industrial reuse. An advanced dust extraction and filtration system ensures product quality and a safe working environment.
This project demonstrates how industrial collaboration and advanced plant engineering can enable effective plastic upcycling solutions, confirming CAMEC’s role as a technological partner for circular economy projects.
