Starting with Panizzolo: new opportunities for metal recovery

The metal recycling industry includes companies with very different processing volumes, materials, production targets and investment capacities.

Not every business needs a complex plant from the outset, nor does every company have the same budget to start or expand its processing operations. To address these different requirements, Panizzolo has developed a new generation of machines, making its technology accessible through more contained investments tailored to actual processing needs.

Practical and functional, these machines are designed to provide what the process really requires: compact design, fast installation, easy integration and the reliability needed for continuous industrial operation.

The approach is more essential, yet fully industrial. Panizzolo’s know-how, robustness and engineering standards remain unchanged, drawing on the company’s experience in designing machinery and plants for metal recovery. The result is a range of solutions designed to generate value while addressing more specific and operational requirements.

This evolution is also reflected in the visual identity of the new series. Panizzolo has introduced a dedicated colour, distinct from its traditional product range, making the machines immediately recognisable and giving a clear identity to this new design direction, where simplicity and essentiality become integral parts of the product.

Compakt: recovering value from the start

The Compakt series was developed as a ready-to-use solution for companies looking to enter metal recovery with smaller processing volumes. Compact and quick to install thanks to its plug-and-play design, it is a versatile solution that can serve either as a first processing system or as a dedicated unit within a more structured plant.
With 7.5 kW of installed power and a processing capacity of up to 150 kg/h, the Compakt 240 hammer mill is designed to process different types of scrap, including small electric motors, transformers, radiators, WEEE components and mixed metals.

The available configurations allow the machine to be adapted to the characteristics of the material and the specific processing requirements. The series is also built around a clear economic principle: making metal recovery viable even on a smaller scale, through an accessible investment designed to deliver a fast return.

PreRefine: a solution focused on output quality

The PreRefine series was designed to prepare material for subsequent refining and granulation stages. More specifically, the PreRefine 450 is a hammer mill developed for the grinding and pre-refining of medium- and small-sized metal scrap, including materials containing inert and abrasive components. Compact and robust, the machine delivers up to 6 t/h with 55 kW of power.

The process focuses on output quality and, in particular, on liberating the different fractions contained in the input material. Effective material preparation creates the right conditions for subsequent sorting, separation and refining stages, improving the efficiency of the overall process.

PreRefine can operate either as a dedicated grinding solution or as part of a more articulated processing line, with a natural fit within Panizzolo refining plants. It can process a variety of materials, including mixed ferrous and non-ferrous metals, WEEE-derived materials, aluminium housings, electric motors and transformers, and WEEE fluff.

Industry: targeted scrap processing

The Industry series was developed for the specialised processing of specific scrap streams and is designed for applications where both the material and the processing objective are clearly defined. The range features machines with a monobloc design and dedicated setups, allowing the technology to be selected according to the input material and required processing result.

The engineering concept is to concentrate what is truly necessary for the process into an essential machine, while maintaining robustness, operational continuity and output quality. This specialised approach makes it possible to build the process around actual production requirements while avoiding unnecessary complexity.

With 315 kW of power and a processing capacity of up to 12 t/h, the Industry 1300 reflects the industrial character of the series. It is designed for companies that need to process specific scrap streams continuously or introduce a dedicated processing stage into their operations. Its compact structure and plug-and-play concept also simplify installation and integration, helping companies move into production quickly with a reliable solution.

An evolving project

Compakt, PreRefine and Industry represent three different interpretations of the same philosophy: making metal recovery more accessible through machines developed around specific requirements, while retaining the technology, experience and quality at the core of Panizzolo engineering. Simple in form, but unmistakably Panizzolo in substance, all three series share the same engineering DNA.

First unveiled at the latest edition of IFAT Munich, the new machines have already received very positive feedback from international markets, particularly in Europe and Latin America. Just a few months after their launch, this response provides an encouraging first indication that the new approach is meeting genuine market interest.

Development is already progressing on several fronts. New models are being added to the existing series, while further product ranges, configurations and accessories are already in development to broaden the scope of applications and address an increasingly diverse set of processing requirements. The result is a dynamic and continuously expanding offering that opens up new ways for companies to access Panizzolo technology, with targeted solutions for recovering and maximising the value of metal scrap.
