Modular planetary drives for biogas plants

The power transmission system can be used for shredding green and biological wastes with subsequent feeding of the biogas plant’s digester. Biogas - biomass (if produced from vegetables rich in sugar), and biodiesel (if produced from oilseed plants) - is one of the most promising sources of renewable energy.

Comer Industries’ angular planetary drive series PGA 2500 VM for biogas stationary plants, available in different ratios, transmits the vertical drive to the augers. The solution can be equipped with electric motor or with driveshaft.

For fermenter agitator applications, Comer Industries offers a complete range of modular planetary drives with shrink disc and torque arm, driven by electric motors, which are ATEX certified compliant. Torque ranges from 1,000 Nm up to 650,000 Nm.

Tests are carried out in the company Mechatronics Research Center, an advanced laboratory set up in 1996 on an area of 1,500 m² (16,000 ft²). The facility has 11 soundproofed test rooms equipped with cutting-edge devices and simulators to reproduce machine operating environment, thus optimizing product performances and reducing both prototyping lead-time and customer time-to-market for new machines.
