Panizzolo-EGA: a new chapter for aluminium recycling

For Panizzolo Recycling Systems, 2025 has been a year defined by growth, innovation and ambitious challenges. One project in particular captures this trajectory: the partnership with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), one of the world’s leading aluminium producers, to build the largest aluminium recycling plant in the United Arab Emirates. It is a collaboration that reflects Panizzolo’s expanding international reach and its capacity to tackle highly complex engineering demands.

Panizzolo-EGA: a new chapter for aluminium recycling

Managing complexity

The EGA project pushed Panizzolo beyond the boundaries of traditional recycling plants: high processing capacities, specific technical requirements, and a level of complexity that left no room for standardised solutions. To meet these challenges, continuous dialogue and close coordination between departments were essential to refine processes and identify innovative engineering approaches. It was a demanding and ambitious journey, during which the team demonstrated remarkable expertise and cohesion. The spirit with which the company faced these challenges is clearly summarised in the words of Mauro Panizzolo, Owner and Sales Manager:

“A plant of this complexity cannot be built through a single brilliant intuition, but through the strength of a team that stays united even when challenges increase. This project pushed us to exceed our limits, allowing us to demonstrate our value. In the coming months, with the plant’s start-up, all the work done will finally take shape, an outcome we await with enthusiasm, as it embodies everyone’s commitment and energy.”

A changing landscape for aluminium

The collaboration with EGA comes at a time when the aluminium industry is rapidly evolving towards more efficient processes, higher-quality recycled materials and industrial strategies increasingly focused on decarbonisation. This shift is leading many companies to invest in next-generation plants capable of combining sustainability, productivity, and competitiveness.
EGA’s decision fits perfectly into this scenario. With an expected capacity of 170,000 tonnes per year, the new plant is at the core of the group’s decarbonisation pathway and represents one of the most significant circular economy initiatives in the UAE. The recycled aluminium will be marketed under the RevivAL brand, a symbol of the company’s commitment to emission reduction and responsible production. A vision openly shared by EGA’s CEO, Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, who defined recycling as “one of the main growth opportunities for the entire sector.”

Engineering, end to end

In the EGA project, Panizzolo provided expertise covering the entire plant: from defining the treatment process to designing material flows, coordinating operating stages, and integrating machinery with control systems.
The goal was to build a line capable of managing high volumes stably and efficiently, while ensuring high-quality output and optimised energy performance. This approach required rigorous technical management, especially considering the plant’s unconventional nature. It is precisely in this context that the project highlighted the strengths of Panizzolo’s working method: transversal competences, adaptability, and an engineering vision strongly oriented towards results.
The collaboration was built on solid foundations, enabling the company to interpret EGA’s requirements not only from a technical standpoint but also in relation to the industrial processes that the plant will support. The result is a long-lasting solution designed to guide the company towards more efficient and sustainable production.

New perspectives

One of the most significant outcomes of this project is the interest it has generated beyond the partnership with EGA. In recent months, several international companies have contacted Panizzolo to explore potential partnerships and evaluate investments in similar plants, driven by the need to increase efficiency and enhance long-term competitiveness. This trend highlights the increasingly central role of recycled aluminium in the energy transition and the growing market focus on advanced technological solutions. Once again, Mauro Panizzolo effectively summarises the moment:

“EGA has shone a spotlight on our work. The enquiries we are receiving show that there is a strong willingness to invest in large-scale aluminium recycling. For us, it confirms that we are on the right path and that we can play a key role in this evolution.”

Heading into 2026

Looking ahead to the new year, Mauro Panizzolo describes the company’s expectations and priorities for 2026: “In the coming months, we will enter the plant’s start-up phase, a crucial milestone that will allow us to fully consolidate the work carried out throughout 2025. 2026 will be a dynamic year: the continuation of the EGA project, new orders, and the development of innovative solutions will further expand our technological offering. On the international front, the agenda will be intense: after a year full of meetings, in 2026 we will be present at several key industry exhibitions, including IFAT Munich, an important opportunity to engage with the market and present our latest developments. We expect months rich in stimuli and opportunities, with all the potential to turn what we have built so far into concrete results.”
