The quality control of aluminum scrap used as secondary raw material in aluminum production is becoming increasingly stringent. For this reason, it is necessary to have first class material. This excellence is not always guaranteed for those aluminum manufacturers which, as is often the case, are dependent on buying recycled aluminum materials. TOMRA Sorting Recycling's X-Ray Transmission (XRT) technology with its X-TRACT and X-TRACT X6 FINES units is highly recommended for efficiently separating aluminum and aluminum alloys from heavy metals, which delivers consistent quality for the resulting raw materials and products.

Stena Metall, together with the Danish company Vestforbrænding, inaugurated the world's first full-scale HaloSep plant. The plant converts fly ash from incineration processes into useful resources such as metals and salt, as well as purified fly ash. The ash is today classified as a hazardous waste that may only be disposed of in special landfills. The facility is part-financed by EU-LIFE.

ValcopIA is the latest French MRF opened last July and sets the standards for sorting centres in France. ValcopIA is a project led by Decoset, a joint association in Haute-Garonne, and entrusted to the Paprec - GCC Occitanie - SWA - Aktid consortium as part of a comprehensive performance contract. Pellenc ST, a major player in optical sorting in France and internationally, makes a significant contribution to the high performance of the plant with its latest generation of sorting equipment. In total, 21 Mistral+ CONNECT™ machines are in operation to recover 13 fractions of recyclable materials (excluding metals and aluminium). In addition, there are 13 AISEE™ gantries equipped with artificial intelligence, which analyse the quality of the streams in real time and assist in performance management.
